Assisting each person in improving their quality of life, health and performance.

The mission of JH is to assist each person in improving their quality of life, health and performance through personalized exercise prescription, lifestyle changes, and nutritional intervention.

We are biokineticists/ clinical exercise specialists, using exercise as our mode of therapy to treat joint and muscle injuries. Therapy is aimed at restoring normal biomechanics, relief pain and prevent another injury or return to the sports field. We also use exercise and lifestyle medicine to provide on-going care for patients with chronic disease conditions including Parkinson's, Fibromyalgia, chronic lower back pain.

We have a keen interest in each person. We believe that you cannot effectively treat a person if you do not understand their environment and circumstances. We do not prescribe protocols but assess each individual and treat accordingly. By shifting the traditional injury-centered focus of a practice to a more patient-centered approach, we address the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. We spend time with our patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, we support the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.

It is not the one thing that we do or teach that relieves the pain but rather the collective change that comes along with restoring movement and biomechanics. It is the sum of the parts that leads to a better understanding of how the body heals and how abnormal movement patterns not only affect the efficacy of movement but also leads to re-injury of a joint or muscle or other parts of the body due to compensation.

People think that once a joint has been replaced that all problems are solved or if pain is gone then problem is gone but the joint had to be replaced because the injury started many years before which lead to a change in the movement pattern, the reason for the injury in the first place has to be understood and normal movement patterns have to be re-learned.

The Results:

  • Improved joint and muscle function that leads to pain-free movement, improved sleep, improved endurance (which may help you enjoy a shopping experience again).
  • Prevent injury of the other joints especially when a limp has developed after injury of one side as one will compensate and compromise normal movement when there is a sore joint. And after periods of pain and immobility, your movement patterns may change which puts you at a higher risk for re-injury or a new injury or overloading of certain joints.
  • Improved recovery after stressful periods or sporting events.
  • A sports massage may be beneficial.
  • Reduced pain when working at your desk or sitting in front of the computer.

  • Able to perform activities of normal living (washing dishes, sitting at the desk, driving the car, etc.) without pain and discomfort.
  • Correction of poor body mechanics which leads to symptom-free participation in recreational or sporting activities.
  • When participating in sports you always use the same movement patterns and muscles. Complementing exercises can improve your performance as you increase strength flexibility strength and endurance specific to the sport, this also prevents injury.
  • Chronic disease conditions are complex diseases that affect various systems and organs, exercise therapy forms an essential part of the treatment to prevent increase risk in co-morbidities (high blood pressure, risk of heart disease, cancer, joint degeneration, etc) of the chronic disease conditions. It improves the quality of life of such a patient, keeping them independent and improve feeling of well-being
