Biokinetics Services,
Pain Relief & Performance Improvement

We are biokineticists/ clinical exercise specialists, using exercise as our mode of therapy to treat joint and muscle injuries. Therapy is aimed at restoring normal bio-mechanics, relief pain and prevent another injury and return to the sports field. We also use exercise and lifestyle medicine to provide on-going care for patients with chronic disease conditions including Parkinson's, Fibromyalgia, chronic lower back pain.

People think that once a joint has been replaced that all problems are solved or if pain is gone then the problem is gone but the joint had to be replaced because the injury started many years before which lead to a change in the movement pattern, the reason for the injury in the first place has to be understood and normal movement patterns have to be re-learned.

The Results

  • Improved joint and muscle function that leads to pain-free movement, improved sleep, improved endurance (which may help you enjoy a shopping experience again).
  • Prevent injury of the other joints especially when a limp has developed after injury of one side as one will compensate and compromise normal movement when there is a sore joint. And after periods of pain and immobility, your movement patterns may change which puts you at a higher risk for re-injury or a new injury or overloading of certain joints.
  • Improved recovery after stressful periods or sporting events.
  • A sports massage may be beneficial.
  • Reduced pain when working at your desk or sitting in front of the computer.

  • Chronic disease conditions are complex diseases that affect various systems and organs, exercise therapy forms an essential part of the treatment to prevent increase risk in co-morbidities (high blood pressure, risk of heart disease, cancer, joint degeneration, etc) of the chronic disease conditions. It improves the quality of life of such a patient, keeping them independent and improve feeling of well-being.

What Does a Consultation Cost?

The consultation fees might vary depending on what is done during a consultation. You may be able to claim your consultation and sessions (these are limited by your medical aid) from your medical aid, depending on your benefits available. Medical aids differ from each other in what can be claimed and the benefit amount. Please consult with your medical aid first if you are not sure what your Biokinetic benefit is. Although we try to keep our rates similar to those of the medical aids, it is not always possible due to these differences between medical aids.

  • Initial 1 hour Consultation: R 770,00, this includes our preparation for your 1st session
  • Session rates: Depending on the condition and treatment goal the session rates might vary between R 390,00 to R 650,00 per session. We generally aim to do 1 consultation and 4 sessions with a person, we allow enough time between sessions for learning and bio mechanical changes to take place (in other words - we give you homework).

  • After 12 weeks we schedule a Follow up assessment to compare initial findings with improvements. These rates vary but is less than the initial consultation.
